Where it all began

M pies was founded by Emily who grew up in the UK with pies as her go-to comfort dish. Whilst pies back at home are a staple, they are rarely exciting and in the Netherlands they are practically non-existent.

When Emily moved to the Netherlands just before COVID, hospitality was more a passion than profession. But after working in different restaurants of different levels, Emily channelled her love of hosting and food into a career.

From History to hospitality

Back in the UK, Emily studied history- a subject that deepened her curiosity about people, traditions and why.

This sense of exploration never left her. She uses history as a lense for creativity- uncovering stories, ideas, connections, and translating them into flavours. Her pies often draw subtle inspiration from different eras, cultures and themes: a delicious fusion of research and imagination.

Cooking has become her way of storytelling.

Behind the Pie

After gaining experience at a range of different restaurants, Emily began combining her love for high-quality, good and honest food with her creative drive to innovate.

She experimented endlessly to come up with the perfect crust: strong and crisp to stay true to origins of the British savoury pie. Yet flakey and buttery, deep in flavour and comfort.

Each filling would be a new way of combining high end meals and the luxury of eating out at a restaurant with the ease, accessibility and comfort of something quick and nostalgic, reserved for home.

Bringing Pies to Amsterdam

Emily saw an opportunity to bring pies to Amsterdam. A food market that welcomes comfort, creativity, uniqueness and quality.
